The Perfect 10 Diet_ 10 Key Hormones That Hold the Secret to Losing Weight and Feeling Great-Fast! ( PDFDrive )

wasn’t losing weight: Catherine was consuming 3 servings of fatfree dairy a day
(milk in cereal and coffee, and fatfree yogurt). She also ate snacks every day,
instead of occasionally. When I say snacks are optional, that doesn’t mean you
can have them all the time. When I say milk is okay, I don’t mean 3 servings of
dairy. A fatfree yogurt has 50 grams of sugar. The sugar Catherine was eating
from fatfree dairy alone was sabotaging her insulin and her efforts to lose
weight.
If you find that you’re not losing weight on the Perfect 10 Diet, pay closer
attention to what you’re actually eating. Read the fine print to see that there is no
added sugar in your wholegrain cereal, or exchange it for a slice of rye bread that
has less than 8 to 9 grams of sugar per slice. Unless you’re very close to your
ideal body weight, you’re probably eating something you shouldn’t.

Eating More Than You Need
Eating rich, delicious food does not mean indulging or eating to excess. I have
not asked you to count anything on the Perfect 10 Diet. You don’t have to count
calories, fat grams, or net carbs, but portion control is definitely important. If
you eat too much, you still can make too much insulin. Make it a habit to fill
your plate just to the rim with fiberrich vegetables. When I say that you should
eat natural fats to lose weight, I’m talking about moderation. For instance, when
I say you may have nuts once in a while for a snack or to sprinkle on top of your
salads, I’m talking about a small handful, not a whole jar. When I say eating
chocolate made with cocoa butter with reduced sugar is okay, I mean having a
bite or two, not eating the whole bar.

Metabolic Resistance
If you’re doing everything correctly but still not losing weight, it may not be
your fault. Your body may be resisting your weightloss efforts, which is known
as metabolic resistance. Have your doctor check the levels of many of the
hormones I’ve discussed—insulin, TSH for thyroid, leptin, IGF-1 for growth
hormone, estrogen and progesterone for women, testosterone for men, and
DHEA-sulfate. (Estrogen and progesterone are best measured 3 weeks after your
period.) Next, check with your doctor to see if any of the medications you are on
are interfering with your weight loss.
