The Path Of Life, The Journey Of Living

(solaojo) #1

Problems started not long after. A strange illness struck my father
and this prematurely caused his retirement from work due to the
gravity of the sickness. The sickness came as a result of a strange
dust from his work place just because he could not give a colleague
some money (with reasons). My father was taken from one hospital
to another till we got to ECWA Hospital in Egbe, Kwara State (now
Kogi State).

The journey to Egbe started at about noon that fateful day and we
arrived our destination in the evening. We had to rent a house that
night when we got to Egbe for my mother to stay throughout the
period my father was going to be on admission in the hospital. At
the hospital, he was not admitted until the next day, and by then, his
breathing had become heavy (as if his heart was going to come out
of him).

At this junction, I have to commend a particular family in the Lord
in the Glorious Vision - The Apostolic Church. That is the family of
Elder and Deaconess Oyeyinka, most especially, the head of the
family whom God used extremely for us at that trying period. He
was the one who solely volunteered his car, time, energy and
money. He did not only take us to the hospitals within Lagos, but
took the pain of taking us to Egbe in Kogi State, where the ECWA
hospital situates. Our prayers for this wonderful family have been
manifested in their lives, but my prayer furthermore is that God
will continue to uphold them till the end.

That first night at Egbe, My Father and I had a discussion that was
quite revealing, it was also terrifying, yet I received every
revelation with faith (I was being made a man). I was courageous
and of good cheer that my father was going to make it and would
bounce back to life.

After this, thieves invaded our house at around 2am. They
instructed us to open our door that “the owner of the house has
come”. But I was quick to reply with confidence that I cannot do
that since the house owner has refused to come in the morning,
afternoon or evening.

They threatened us and we burst into praying at the very top of our
voices, my wife and I. They were now chasing us up and down.
When we got to the bedroom where our baby boy was laid, my wife
picked up the boy, and just then, the thieves shattered some louver
glasses onto the very spot where the baby was moved from. In
other words, God saved him from glass cuts.

Still praying, some of our neighbours heard and they alerted the
night guards. When the robbers heard the noise they were making,
they ran away. Despite all their efforts towards forcing the front
door open, it did not give way. The prophecy at the beginning of the
year in our Church, said 'they (the thieves) will come, they will not
enter and even if they enter, they will not harm us. That prophecy
was made manifest. When it was exactly one month later, they
came back saying “the last time we came, you were shouting
'Jesus, Jesus'. If you like, shout whatever you like; we will enter.
Bonboy, do your work. If anybody comes out; shoot him”. They
first went to the house of the family that blew the whistle the first
time they visited. An aged mother was macheted and was later
rushed to the hospital. The next point of call after that was our
house. I should have traveled to Birmingham in the UK on training
from my office the previous Saturday, but was refused VISA
within the week. So I had every other documents and luggage
ready except the VISA. We quickly hid the entire folder containing
these documents and some money somewhere in the building
before they could gain access into the apartment. They forced their
way though by destroying the front door. We had hidden ourselves
in our neighbour's toilet, because we shared common passage.
