Yesterday
(Original Motion
Picture Soundtrack)
Himesh Patel
This is the soundtrack of the Danny Boyle-
directed romantic comedy film Yesterday,
in which a struggling musician played by
Himesh Patel achieves success with Beatles
songs after finding out that almost all of
the rest of the world doesn’t remember
the band. With this album, Patel sings new
arrangements of Beatles songs and some of
his character’s pre-fame material.
FIVE FACTS:
- The Beatles themselves were not involved
in the film’s production, but they and their
families wished Boyle well with the project. - The filmmakers had to pay $10 million
for the rights to use the Beatles’ music in
the movie. - In total, 16 Beatles songs, including the
classics “Yesterday”, “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude”,
feature in the film. - On the soundtrack, Lily James, who plays
Patel’s love interest in the film, duets with
him on another Beatles favorite, “I Want to
Hold Your Hand”. - The soundtrack also includes pieces from
English composer Daniel Pemberton.
