Frock You!
Owner: Kristin Tinderholt
A er slinging fantastically funky
clothing for nine years, their Huge
Frocking Sale is a new way to fi nd
unique, aff ordable gi ideas.
What is the Huge Frocking Sale
December 9-11?
Every other month we invite guest vendors to
set up with us for a three-day, huge vintage
market. We’ll be joining forces with vendors
who are repurposing vintage cashmere into
scarves and pillows, vintage vases fi lled with
vegan candles, and more. We’ll also have ugly
Xmas sweaters so you can be the hit at your
company party!

SHOP 4121 Park Blvd., University Heights
Bad Madge & Company
Owner: Tanya McAnear
South Park’s newbie is stocked full
of resale items, local designer goods,
furniture, art, and random collectibles.
How long were you planning before
opening a store?
Three weeks. It was the craziest most daring
thing I’ve ever done, but I’m a risk taker and
I know when to follow my gut. It has been
so fun and rewarding. I love it. It’s scary
sometimes, but I don’t think about that.
Favorite towns/regions to fi nd inventory?
If you are a good picker ... you keep those
secret! I’ve picked from all over: from trips
to Europe to my own network. Thri stores,
garage sales—from Poway to Bonita—can
be great.
Why did you choose South Park
for your shop?
I lived in that area for 18 years and loved it.
I’ve spent a lot of great nights at the Whistle
Stop. I saw it change from a horrible scary
neighborhood to a fantastic place. The people
are super nice. I feel so thankful that I have
that spot.

Favorite towns/regions to fi nd inventory?
We are Southern through and through,
and when it comes to picking, Alabama,
Florida, and Georgia are the best. We’ve had
a lot of fun fi nding new secret spots in San
Diego! I’ll tell you, the best estate sales are
always in Point Loma.

Vintage gi buying tips?
Everyone needs a coff ee table lighter from the
’70s, or a cozy crocheted blanket made by hand
40 years ago. They’re conversation pieces and
make for great stories for the years to come.
