HILLTOP HACIENDA + THANKSGIVING ALFRESCO
WINDOW TO THEIR PAST
When the owners of this classic Rancho Santa Fe hacienda-style home designed their intimate courtyard with a fi replace, they
made sure it included a window large enough to look inside and view the two-piece, 8-foot antique wooden hutch they purchased
during their honeymoon in Canada in 1973. When it was time to leave their East Coast home recently and downsize in San Diego,
the hutch was one of the pieces they simply could not part with. The homeowners say being able to look inside from the courtyard
and see their honeymoon hutch enhances the warm and welcoming ambience of the home by adding a nostalgic touch from their
fi rst days of marriage. See page 80 for more on this home. // JENNIFER COBURN
