one-room burger joint has been here forever,
amid a parking lot overlooking the South Bay.
It might invite a health inspector’s scorn, but
you’ll quickly forgive it after ordering a burger –
perfectly greasy and mysteriously wonderful.

The Redwood Lodge is a marvel: it’s entirely
built and paneled from a single curly redwood
tree that measured over 18-in thick in diameter.
Progressively restored and polished into a gem
