One of Sonoma’s top tables for earthy New
American cooking, made with produce sourced
from within 60 miles, La Haye’s tiny dining room
gets packed cheek-by-jowl and service can
border on perfunctory, but the clean simplicity
and flavor-packed cooking make it many
foodies’ first choice. Reserve well ahead.

here forever, and the ‘specials’ never
change, but Della Santina’s Italian-
American cooking – linguini pesto, veal
parmigiana, rotisserie chickens – is
consistently good. The brick courtyard
is charming on warm evenings.

farmstead surrounded by rolling hills, Sonoma
Chalet has rooms in a Swiss chalet–style house
adorned with little balconies and country-style
bric-a-brac. We love the free-standing cottages;
Laura’s has a wood-burning fireplace. Breakfast
is served on a deck overlooking a nature
preserve. No air-con in rooms with shared bath.

to Glen Ellen for the fig’s earthy California-
Provençal comfort food, like flash-fried

wine prices and weekend brunch give reason
to return.

Surrounded by horse pastures, Beltane is
a throwback to 19th-century Sonoma. The
cheerful, lemon-yellow 1890s ranch house
occupies 100 acres and has double porches
lined with swinging chairs and white wicker.
Though technically a B&B, each unfussy,
country-Americana–style room has a private
entrance – nobody will make you pet the cat.
Breakfast in bed. No phones or TVs mean zero
distraction from pastoral bliss.
