artesanías en cuero. Atuntaqui, cantón localizado en el centro
de la provincia posee un gran potencial turístico por su cultura,
gastronomía y su producción textil. Sus afamadas confecciones
textiles de excelente calidad y precio son conocidas a nivel
nacional.
San Antonio se caracteriza por los tallados de madera. Recorra
sus calles y verá renacer la tradición colonial que tanto admiró
en las iglesias con los dorados y plateados de esculturas, atriles,
reclinatorios y marcos. Zuleta, por su parte, es conocida por
sus afamados bordados con una técnica única que todavía se
mantiene en secreto. Es también asiento de grandes “tolas” o
montículos artificiales que civilizaciones de hace más de 500 años
levantaron en honor de sus caciques o jefes. El Valle del Chota,
con su etnia afroecuatoriana, posee un increíble paisaje de aridez
a una mano y fertilidad a la otra; se caracteriza por un género
musical mezcla de afro e indígena llamado “La Bomba”. Si usted
tiene la suerte de presenciar una Banda Mocha tocándolo, podrá
maravillarse con la ejecución de instrumentos musicales hechos
con hojas vegetales o bellas mujeres bailando majestuosamente
con una botella en la cabeza sin derribarla.

gold and silver plated sculptures, frames, lecterns, etc. In the town
of Zuleta you can admire the embroideries, made with a secret
technique that is still a secret. Here you can also find big “tolas”
or artificial hills made by old civilizations, around 500 years ago,
to honor their chiefs or “caciques”. The Valley of the Chota, with
its Afro-Ecuadorian ethnic, offers an incredible arid landscapes on
one side and extremely fertile on the other. Its music is a mixture of
African and indigenous music, called “la Bomba”. If you are lucky
to be present when a “Banda Mocha” (local music band) plays this
music, you will be amazed to see how they play with instruments
made by vegetables, and also about the beauty of their women,
who dance with a bottle on top of their heads, and the bottle never
moves.
This province has excellent hotel-ranches, where tourists can
enjoy good food of the zone, the climate is very nice and there are
important archeological sites. Take your time to visit Imbabura.
