La provincia de Los Ríos es el hogar del montubio, de las canoas

y los balnearios de agua dulce. De los pueblos que viven de la

agricultura a orillas de los majestuosos ríos.

Babahoyo es su capital, ciudad pujante, de gente amable y

emprendedora. Se encuentra a orillas del río del mismo nombre.

Numerosas barcas que surcan y bajan por sus aguas son típicas

de esta ciudad. El turista puede visitar el parque 24 de Mayo y las

casas flotantes que son únicas en el país, al igual que los extensos

sembríos de arroz de los alrededores de la ciudad. El rodeo

montubio del 12 de Octubre es famoso entre los pobladores de

la provincia.

Quevedo es la ciudad del comercio. Habitantes de distintas

nacionalidades han instalado allí sus prósperos negocios. El

malecón del río Quevedo es muy visitado por sus habitantes.

Extensos sembríos de banano son típicos de la zona rural de esta

dinámica ciudad.

El bosque de Jauneche en el cantón Palenque es una reserva que

consta de 136 hectáreas, está ubicada a 43 km al sur de Quevedo

y alberga flora y fauna capaz de impresionar a cualquier turista.

Además de los monos, existen los micos, perezosos, guatusas y otros

animales como mariposas, arácnidos, termitas, saltamontes, etc. Esta

área es conocida como la Estación Biológica Pedro Franco Dávila y

fue inaugurada el 29 de septiembre de 1963. Cerca de allí, en Vinces,

existe otro encanto natural: el humedal de Abras de Mantequilla.

The province of Los Ríos is home to the montubio, or backcountry

dwellers. It is a province of canoes, freshwater resorts, and villages

that subsist on farming on the banks of majestic rivers.

Babahoyo is the provinceís capital. It is a dynamic city, with hospitable,

enterprising people. It lies on the banks of the river bearing the same

name where many boats ply its waters.

The tourist can visit the 24 de Mayo Park and the “floating” houses

built on stilts in the river, which are unique in the country, as well as

the extensive rice plantations around the city. The backcountry rodeo

on October 12th is famous among the provinceís inhabitants.

Quevedo is a business city, and here many foreigners have established

thriving trade. Its inhabitants often stroll along the pier of the

Quevedo River. Broad expanses of banana plantations are typical of

the rural zone surrounding this dynamic city.

The Jauneche forest in Palenque canton is a reserve with 136

hectares. It is located 43 km. south of Quevedo and it has a flora and

fauna that can impress any tourist. Apart from the monkeys, we can

also find long-tailed monkeys, sloth, agouti, and other animals such

as: butterflies, arachnids, termites, grasshoppers, etc.

This area is known as “Estación Biológica Pedro Franco Dávila” and

it was inaugurated on September 29th, 1963. Next to Los Rios,

in Vinces, there is another natural enchantment: “El Humedal de

Abras de Mantequilla”. On March 14th, 2000, this reserve, which has

22.500 hectares, was recognized during the Ramsar Convention as
