When some Qurayshi soldiers
came their way, Allah caused a spi-
der to spin a web over the mouth of
the cave and a pair of doves to nest
at its entrance.
On seeing this the Qurayshi sol-
diers left thinking that no one could
have entered the cave.
Thereafter Prophet Muhammad [s]
and Abu Bakr [r] set out for Yathrib.
The people of Yathrib celebrated
the arrival of Nabi Muhammad [s]
and changed the name of the city to
‘Madinat an-Nabiy’, ‘The City of the
Prophet’, or simply Madinah.
This event is known as the Hijrah,
or migration.
Muslims all over the world mark this
time as the beginning of our calen-
der.

Allah declared:I has
“... Allah did indeedhelp (his Prophet [s]
when the unbelieversdrove him out. He
had no more thanone companion and
the two were in theCave. (The Prophet)
said to his compan-ion, ‘Have no fear, for
Allah is with us’. ThenAllah sent down His
peace upon him, andstrengthened him
with forces which youcould not see, and
humbled to thedepths the word of
the unbelievers. Butthe word of Allah Is
exalted to theheights, for Allah is
Exalted in might,Wise.”
Our beloved ProphetHadith
Muhammad esaid:
(When Abu Bakr [r]whispered to the
Prophet [s] ‘What ifthey were to look
through the creviceand detect us?’ the
Prophet [s] replied...)“Silence, O Abu Bakr!
What do you think ofthose two with whom
Allah is the third.?”
