[s] was still there while he would
then be making his escape. Nabi
Muhammad [s] also knew that Ali [r]
would not be harmed, for after all,
he was the son of Abu Talib, the old
chief of the Quraysh, and none
would dare touch him.
As darkness fell, the young men
gathered in the shadows near the
house. While they were keeping a
close eye on the man in the bed,
without them realising, Prophet
Muhammad [s] escaped.
The young Qurayshi men waited in
silence throughout the night until, at
dawn, the door swung open. The
attackers sprang forward, tearing
off the sheets of the bed. But what
was this! They were all frozen still!
Instead of the Prophet [s], they saw
Ali [r], the son of their old chief, Abu
Talib.
