Microsoft Word - Woodshop 101 Part 1 of 3

(vip2019) #1
Friction- The rubbing of
one object or surface
against another.

Step 4
Without using any
glue simply put the
pieces together to
make sure everything
fits. This is called dry
fitting. It’s better to
find any problems
now than after you
have the project half
built! After you’re
comfortable with how
everything fits
together glue and nail
the front and back to
the right side.
When putting the left side on use no glue, and
only nail it to the top of the front and back
pieces. This is so we can have a way to get into
the birdhouse to clean it out after the birds are
throughwithitfortheyear. Drillaholewitha
1/8” twist bit at the bottom of the front and back
parts and into the side part about a ¼”. Now
using a 1 ¼” screw secure the pieces together.

(Hint: Dip the threads of the
screws into some wax before
you use them. The wax will
reduce the fiction making it
much easier turn)
