families. This Toolkit is set forth to help the field of child welfare
move forward via the integration of these best practices and to
create an optimal learning experience for all staff. Most professionals
in the field of child welfare are familiar with best practices in a
variety of fields; by the end of this toolkit the reader will understand
how these pieces fit together (see Figure 1.1).

This toolkit describes many concepts, some of which may overlap in
the description of coaching foundational theories, approaches, and
models and, as a result, some text may seem repetitive.
