What will be different as a result of the coaching?
How will coaching improve performance?
Most empirical literature comprises survey-based or contextual
methods that examine the characteristics of coaches and learners and
the delivery of coaching — rather than outcome research that
examines the effectiveness of coaching leading to practitioner or
agency change (for a review, see Grant, 2010). However, a body of
research exists that provides some evidence that coaching improves
practitioner practices and, in some cases, leads to improved client
outcomes (see Figure 10.1).
