7.2.2 Layout the Vertical Alignment


It is desirable to minimize longitudinal grade changes as much as possible. However, it is
recognized that this might not be feasible due to economic constraints. Therefore, the FAA
allows grade changes but is limited. The maximum longitudinal grade and grade changes
for the centerline of runways permitted by the FAA are listed in Table 7- 5 , depending on
AAC (C as specified in Table 5- 2 ).
