- Characteristics.
- A single-digit runway landing designation number is never preceded by a zero.
- The designator number is the whole number nearest one-tenth of the magnetic azimuth along
the runway centerline when viewed from the direction of approach. For Al-Auja Airport; the
runway is oriented 360° - 180° )Northward( , the runway designator marking would be 36, 18.
- For parallel runways, each runway landing designator number must be supplemented by a
letter, in the order from left to right when viewed from the direction of approach.
- Two parallel runways having a magnetic azimuth of 180 degrees are designated “18L”, “36L”
and “18R”, “36L”.
- The spacing between numbers and letters is 6m as specified in AC 150/5340-1M.
