CHAPTER 4 LITERATURE REVIEW
In order to get familiar with designing and planning of the airports, and regardless of the
limited number of trusted references for airports, studies and researches were conducted
on many international airports such as Barcelona (Spain), Queen Alia International Airport
(Jordan), Stapleton International Airport (United States of America), and Denver
International Airport (United States of America). The following is a summary of the
literature review in this regard.
4.1 Barcelona International Airport
Barcelona International airport is in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain. Located about
7.5 miles (12 km) southwest of the center of Barcelona. It is equipped with three runways
and two terminals. Barcelona airport is located 6 meters above sea level. And the
temperature in Barcelona typically varies from 42 °F to 83 ° F. The airport has 3 take-off
and landing areas, thus obtaining 3 runways in service: two in parallel, 07L/25R and
07R/25L, and a crossover runway 02/20.
