4.2 Queen Alia International Airport


Queen Alia International Airport is an international airport located in Zizia, 32 km (20
miles) south of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, 730 meters above
sea level.


The highest temperature month in Jordan is August with an average maximum temperature
of 32°C (90°F). The airport's land area is about 22 million square meters, while the current
area of the passenger terminal is about 100,000 square meters, to accommodate 9 million
passengers annually.


The airport has a highly efficient design, which has been inspired by local traditions and is
based on a flexible modular solution that allows for future expansion, the new building
allows the airport to grow by 6 percent per annum for the next twenty-five years, increasing
capacity from 3.5 million to 12 million passengers per annum by 2030. It includes two
runways for aircraft to take off and land. The first runway, 08L / 26R, is 3167 meters long
and 61 meters wide, located in the northern direction of the airport; while the second
runway is 08R / 26L, which is 3166 meters long and 61 meters wide, located in the southern
direction of the airport.

Was a major airport in the western United States, the primary airport of Denver
International Airport, Colorado. Stapleton airport was replaced by Denver International
Airport. The runways at Stapleton airport were not smartly laid out. The parallel runways
were too close together for a safe landing in bad weather, which happened around 150 days
a year, and cut the number of arrivals an hour from 80 to 36.
