Palestine International Airport (Al-Auja)

(Noor Al-Dian Rabaya) #1

5.2.2 Land Ownership

Land ownership is strongly affecting the airport's construction cost, social problems, and
project implementation delays. As known, the Palestinians are considered adherents to their
land under any circumstances, so the lands on which such a national project is established
should be owned by the state to avoid conflicts with the local community. This will
minimize the cost of establishing the airport as there is no need to appropriate lands from
its owners.

All lands which appear in Figure 5- 5 are owned by the Palestinian State, including Al-
Auja Airport's proposed site, considering the GIS layers of the Geomolg.
