Lateral Restraint ~ external, compartment (fire), separating (party)

and internal loadbearing walls must have horizontal support from

adjacent floors, to restrict movement. Exceptions occur when the

wall is less than 3 m long.

Methods:

1. 90 mm end bearing of floor joists, spaced not more than 1„2 m

apart † see page 658.

2. Galvanised steel straps spaced at intervals not exceeding 2 m
   and fixed square to joists † see page 658.
