5 jewellery care tips

Here are a number of easy ways to keep your jewellery clean
and in good condition. Regular cleaning also allows you check
for loose stones or worn chains.

  1. Soft toothbrush and liquid soap
My personal favourite and great for stone set silver, gold or
platinum jewellery and chains. Liquid soap doesn't leave a lm
and removes grease. Run a little warm water into a bowl - if
using the sink, make sure to put the plug in!!! Pay attention to the
underside of stone settings, getting in behind the stones to allow
the light in again. Use a gentle circular motion, rinse in warm
water and check by holding up to the light.

  2. A jewellery polishing cloth
These cloths last a long time, but make sure you use the right
one for the metal you want to clean. Avoid facial tissues and
other seemingly soft materials as these can produce scratches.
You'll nd the cloths in most department stores, hardware
stores and jewellers. Goddards, Hagerty and Town Talk are just
three brands available in the UK and Amazon stocks these too.
