Then, thirdly, there is the neness mark - the amount of
precious metal, shown as the number of parts in a thousand. So,
as I mentioned before, you might see .999 for ne silver, .375 for
9ct gold or .950 for platinum for example.

Finally the date letter is the fourth mark, which is optional. Each
year is expressed as a letter of the alphabet. 2020 is V and, like
the maker's mark, is set in a shield or other shape, making it
unique and allowing us to date pieces easily. The letter forms
and shapes change every 26 years.
