Chapter 11


The Genius Plan


In this chapter, we’re going to put all the pieces from
previous chapters together to present the Genius Plan, which
will break down the essentials of eating for ultimate
cognition nutrition. We’ll also discuss various tweaks that
you can make to tailor the Genius Plan to your own unique
biology and specific cognitive and body goals.
The crux of eating for an optimally performing brain is
consuming a diet that is high in nutrient-dense foods (such
as eggs, avocados, dark leafy greens, and nuts) and devoid
of the foods that cause hormonal dysregulation, oxidative
stress, and inflammation (such as processed oils and grain
products). Here are some of the things that will immediately
begin to happen as you bid adieu to dense, processed
carbohydrates and processed oils:


You’ll  lose    weight.  Because     you     will    be  stimulating
insulin to a far lesser degree, it will give your
metabolism the chance to liquidate your stored fat and
use it for fuel. Recall that insulin is an anabolic
(growth) hormone that acts like a one-way valve to
your body’s fat cells, and lowered insulin levels are a
prerequisite to fat burning.
