and globalisationaremakingsocietiesmoreopen.Thismay betrue.However,Iwould
arguethatasaresultthe humanraceislosingitsculturaldiversity.If we
consumeddifferent products,societiesallovertheworldwouldbemore varied.This
can beseen bythefactthatweall shop insimilar multinationalsupermarkets
and buyidenticalproductswhereverwelive.


Thirdly, defendersofmultinationalcompanies often point out that they provide
employment. Although this is undoubtedlytrue,italsomeansthatwe have become
moredependent on them,whichinturnmakesusmorevulnerabletotheir decisions.

adverseeffectonitsworkerswholosetheirjobs.
Allinall,Ibelievethatifweasvoters pressured ourgovernmentstomakemultinational
companiesmoreresponsibleand to protect local producers from outside
competition,wecould havethe benefitsofglobalisationwithoutits disadvantages.
