dropped off for repairs, and the
whole thing would have been sorted
out. Since the car didn’t have an
owner, I couldn’t prove I hadn’t
stolen it.
Carjackings were common in
South Africa at the time, too. So
common you weren’t even
surprised when they happened.
You’d have a friend coming over for
a dinner party and you’d get a call.
“Sorry. Got carjacked. Gonna
be late.”
“Ah, that sucks. Hey, guys!
Dave got carjacked.”
