AN UNVEILING
As sales of the book grew over 2021 , it became clear that we would
be able to start constructing the statue before the end of the year.
When Dave Scott heard we were ready to start construction, he was
so happy. At some point in 2022 , on a day that will live forever in
vegetable history, we got to unveil the new carrot statue at the
Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park in New Zealand. I cut the ribbon,
everyone clapped and it was the happiest day of my life.
It was a big event for the town of Ohakune, and a huge day for the
people of New Zealand who now had another magnificent statue to
stand alongside the biggest carrot in the world. It was huge for me too,
and really enormous for Ollie, but it was probably hugest for Muncho.
“We owe all this to Ollie,” he said, crying tears of joy. “Truly he is
the greatest and best friendliest best friend in the world.”
“Yes he is,” I agreed. “We are truly blessed to know him.”
With that, we swanned off together into the sunset.
