Blumenthal, Foster, and Pedersen all make the case that early on, some, many, or most of the
earlier studies leading to the new fame for echinacea were really performed on Parthenium.
Pedersen (1998) says, “During the past fifty years most of the echinacea of commerce was
probably parthenium.”
