68. Story Boards


Background
Story Boards originated with Walt Disney, who created series of pictures to illustrate
major scenes during animated films. Each scene then was used as a point around which a
complete story could be built. A variety of related procedures for generating ideas has
evolved since then. Although there are significant differences among these procedures,
these activities all share the common feature begun by Walt Disney: laying out key con-
cepts that are linked together to form a complete whole.

Objectives



  • To help participants generate as many creative ideas as possible

  • To help participants learn how to use the activities to generate ideas


Participants
Small groups of four to seven people each

Materials, Supplies, and Equipment



  • For each group: markers, two flip charts, and masking tape for posting flip-chart
    sheets

  • For each participant: one sheet each of three different colors of sticking dots
    (^1 ⁄ 2 ” diameter) and one pad of 5 x 7 (or larger) Post-it®Notes
