Bye, Bye, Nel
Me and Key decide to go to the dog park today. Wenever spend time with
the dog as much as we used to. We have been with theMorgan’s for 5 years
now. We weren’t fond of animals when we first came.They got rid of their cats
out of respect, but they kept Nel. Nel is elderlyand disabled. He is a german
shepherd and he’s pretty big. When we get to the dogpark it starts raining, sadly.
But there is an indoor part for dogs who stay theredaily. We go in and there are a
lot of dogs unleashed, so we take Nel off the leashas well. A rottweiler comes up
to us slowly and then barks. We think he’s tryingto be friendly so we both put our
hands out. “Ahhhhhhh!” Key screams with tears comingout of her eyes. Then
Nel jumps up and tries to fight the rotten dog away.But he was not very lucky. I
held Key because she was crying. That's how I knowit must've hurt, she never
cries. The owner of the rottweiler comes up to usand asks if we're okay. “Yes,
but why would your dog bite my sister?” I said angrily.The man puts his head
down and says, “He only acts like that when he sensessomething bad, or evil. I
don't know what's gotten into him. Here. Here is acheck for $30,000. That's all I
have, I am very sorry.” I take the money but it stilldoesn’t justify my sister’s pain.
Nel has also suffered severe damage. I'm not surehow we're going to tell Mom. I
called her. It sends me straight to voicemail. ThenI went into shock. I see Dad
coughing up blood in the hospital, with a distinctivelyfamiliar guy in the room with
him. I snap out of it. “Key, we have to leave Nel,and get to the emergency room.
Quick!” I say. I speed the whole way to the hospitalwhere Dad is. We get in there
and I feel a vibration of memories flooding throughmy head. I’ve been here
before. In this very building. I just can't rememberwhen, why or how. I asked the
receptionist for my dad’s room number and headed tohis room. We open the
door and the machine is beeping. Lylot and the dudethat paid for my things at
