established" (Matt. 18:16). He gave me the following
scriptures and began discussing them with me.


HEBREWS 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once
ENLIGHTENED, and have TASTED OF THE
HEAVENLY GIFT, and were MADE
PARTAKERS OF THE HOLY GHOST,
5 And have TASTED THE GOOD WORD OF
GOD, and THE POWERS OF THE WORLD TO
COME,
6 IF THEY SHALL FALL AWAY, to renew them
again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to
themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him
to an open shame.
Jesus explained to me that before a Christian could
be guilty of committing the sin unto death, all five
conditions mentioned in this scripture would have to
apply to the person.
First, it says, "For it is impossible for those who
were once enlightened ..." (Heb. 6:4). Jesus said this
referred to what many of us in those days called
"getting under conviction." The preaching of the Word
enlightens the sinner. It's like the prodigal son when he
"came to himself" (Luke 15:17). Through the preaching
of God's Word, the sinner sees that he is lost. He's
enlightened about the truth of God's Word and he sees
his need for a Savior.
Second, Hebrews 6:4 says, "... and have tasted of the
heavenly gift...." Jesus said a man under conviction has
not yet tasted of the Heavenly Gift, because Jesus is the
Heavenly Gift.
Jesus quoted John 3:16: "For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
