How to Deal With Evil Spirits
lords it over you. The Bible is saying that sin is not to
lord it over you. Sin and Satan are synonymous terms.
It wouldn't be an injustice to read that verse like this:
"For Satan shall not have dominion over you."
Why shouldn't Satan have dominion over you?
Because if you're born again, you're not under the law of
sin and death; you're under grace (Rom. 6:14; 8:2). And
Satan is not your lord, Jesus is (Col. 1:13). Therefore,
sin and Satan can't dominate you, unless you allow it.
John also wrote a letter to believers. He addressed
this same subject.
1 JOHN 4:1-4
1 Beloved, BELIEVE NOT EVERY SPIRIT, but
TRY THE SPIRITS WHETHER THEY ARE OF
GOD: because many false prophets are gone out
into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit
that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the
flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this
is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have
heard that it should come; and even now
already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and HAVE
OVERCOME THEM: because greater is he that
is in you, than he that is in the world.
Verse 1 says, "Beloved, believe not every spirit.... "
That verse surely fits us today. Many folks today are
believing every spirit and every spiritual experience,
vision, and manifestation. But, no, we are to examine
spiritual experiences in the light of God's Word and “...
every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come
in the flesh is not of God...” (1 John 4:3).
