Thegoblinnoticesthecharactersiftheycarryanylight

goblindoesnotattack.Instead,itattemptstosneakaway
totheeasttoinformitscompanionsinarea 7 torelease
aflood(seethe“Flood!”sectionofarea5).Thegoblin
movesundetectedifitsDexterity(Stealth)checkexceeds
thepassiveWisdom(Perception)scoreofanycharacter
whomightnoticeitsmovements.
WesternPassage.Thispassageischokedwithrubble
andhassteepescarpments.Treattheareaasdifficult
terrain(see“DifficultTerrain”intherulebook).
Theledgebetweenthetwoescarpmentsisfragile.Any
weightinexcessof 100 poundsloosensthewholemass
andsendsittumblingdowntotheeast.Anycreature
ontheledgewhenitfallsmustmakeaDC 10 Dexterity
savingthrow,taking2d6bludgeoningdamageonafailure,
orhalfasmuchdamageonasuccess.Thecreature
alsofallsproneonafailedsave(see“BeingProne”in
therulebook).


5. Overpass


Whereahightunnelpassesthroughthelargertunnel
cavernbelow,thegoblinshavesetupabridgeguardpost.

Thestreampassagecontinuesupbeyondanothersetof
unevenstepsahead,bendingeastwardasitgoes.Awaterfall
soundsoutfromalargercavernsomewhereaheadofyou.

Ifthecharactersdidn’tspotthebridgewhilenavigating
area4,theyspotitnow.Add:

Aricketybridgespansthepassage,connectingtwotunnels
thatare 20 feetabovethestream.

Onegoblinstandswatchonthebridge.Itishiding,
andcharacterscanspotitbysucceedingonaWisdom
(Perception)checkcontestedbythegoblin’sDexterity
(Stealth)check.Thisguardislazyandinattentive.Ifno
charactersareusinglightsources,eachcharactercan
attemptaDexterity(Stealth)checkagainstthegoblin’s
passiveWisdom(Perception)scoretocreepbywithout
beingnoticed.
Ifthegoblinspotstheadventurers,itsignalsthegoblins
inarea 7 toreleaseaflood(seethe“Flood!”section),then
throwsjavelinsdownatthecharacters.
Bridge.Thisbridgespansthepassage 20 feetabovethe
stream.It’spossibletoclimbupthecavernwallsfromthe
lowerpassagetothebridge.The20-foot-highwallsare
roughbutslickwithspray,requiringasuccessfulDC 15
Strength(Athletics)checktoclimb.
ThebridgehasanArmorClass(AC)of 5 and 10 hit
points.Ifthebridgeisreducedto 0 hitpoints,itcollapses.
CreaturesonthecollapsingbridgemustsucceedonaDC
10 Dexteritysavingthroworfall,taking2d6bludgeoning
damageandlandingprone(see“BeingProne”inthe
rulebook).Thosewhosucceedholdontothebridgeand
mustclimbittosafety.


Flood!
Thelargepoolsinarea 7 havecollapsiblewallsthatcan
beyankedoutofplacetoreleaseasurgeofwaterdown
themainpassageofthelair.Intheroundafterthegoblins
inarea 7 aresignaledbythelookoutinarea5,theystart
knockingawaythesupports.Inthefollowingroundonthe
goblins’initiativecount,awatersurgepoursfromarea 7
downtoarea 1

.

Thepassageissuddenlyfilledwithamightyroar,asahuge
surgeofrushingwaterpoursdownfromabove!

Thefloodthreatensallcreaturesinthetunnel.(Creatures
onthebridgeatarea 5 areoutofdanger,asareany
characterssuccessfullyclimbingthecavernwalls.)Any
creaturewithin 10 feetofthedisusedpassageatarea
4 orthestepsleadinguptoarea 3 canattemptaDC 10
Dexteritysavingthrowtoavoidbeingsweptaway.A
creaturethatfailstogetoutofthewaycanattemptaDC
15 Strengthsavingthrowtoholdon.Onafailedsave,the
characterisknockedproneandwasheddowntoarea1,
takingld6bludgeoningdamagealongtheway.
Thegoblinsinarea 7 canreleaseasecondfloodby
openingthesecondpool,buttheydon’tdothisunlessthe
goblinonthebridgetellsthemto.Thegoblinonthebridge
waitstoseeifthefirstfloodgotridofalltheintruders
beforecallingforthesecondtobereleased.

6. GoblinDen


TheCragmawraidersstationedinthehideoutusethis
areaasacommonroomandbarracks.

Thislargecaveisdividedinhalfbyaten-foot-high
escarpment.Asteepnaturalstaircaseleadsfromthelower
portiontotheupperledge.Theairishazywiththesmokeof
acookingfire,andpungentfromthesmellofpoorlycured
hidesandunwashedgoblins.

Sixgoblinsinhabitthisden,andoneofthemisaleader
with 12 hitpoints.Thefiveordinarygoblinstendthe
cookingfireinthelower(northern)partofthecavenear
theentrancepassage,whiletheleaderrestsintheupper
(southern)partofthecave.
SildarHallwinter,ahumanwarrior,isheldprisoner
inthischamber.Heissecurelyboundonthesouthern
ledgeofthecavern.Thegoblinshavebeenbeatingand
tormentinghim,soheisweakandat 1 hitpoint.
Thegoblinleader,Yeemik,issecond-in-command
ofthewholehideout.Ifheseesthatthecharactersare
gettingtheupperhand,hegrabsSildaranddragshim
overtotheedgeoftheupperlevel.“Truce,orthishuman
dies!”heshouts.
YeemikwantstooustKlargandbecomethenewboss.If
theadventurersagreetoparley,Yeemiktriestoconvince
themtokillKlarginarea8,promisingtoreleaseSildar
whentheybringbackthebugbear’shead.Sildargroggily
warnsthecharactersthattheyshouldn’ttrustthegoblin,
andhe’sright.Ifthecharacterstakethedeal,Yeemiktries
toforcethemtopayarichransomforSildarevenafter
theycompletetheirpartofthebargain.
