If youreallywant toknowyour mind, thebodywillalways
giveyouatruthfulreflection,solookattheemotionorrather
feelit inyour body.Ifthereisan apparent conflictbetween
them,thethoughtwillbethelie,theemotionwillbethetruth.
Not theultimate truthof whoyouare,but the relative truth
ofyourstateofmindatthattime.
Conflict between surface thoughts and unconscious
mental processes is certainly common. You maynot yet be
abletobringyour unconsciousmindactivityintoawareness
asthoughts,butitwillalwaysbereflectedinthebodyasan
emotion, and of this you can become aware. To watch an
emotion in this way is basically the same as listening to or
watching a thought, which I described earlier. The only
differenceisthat,whileathoughtisinyourhead,anemotion
has a strong physical component and so is primarily felt in
thebody.Youcanthenallowtheemotiontobetherewithout
beingcontrolled by it. You no longer are the emotion; you
are thewatcher,theobservingpresence.Ifyoupractice this,
allthatisunconsciousinyouwillbebroughtintothelightof
consciousness.


Soobserving ouremotionsisasimportant asobservingour
thoughts?


Yes.Makeit ahabittoaskyourself.What’sgoingoninside
meat thismoment?Thatquestionwillpointyouintheright
direction.Butdon'tanalyze,justwatch.Focusyourattention
within.Feeltheenergyoftheemotion.Ifthereisnoemotion
present, take your attention more deeply into the inner
energyfieldofyourbody.ItisthedoorwayintoBeing.
