hink of PureElectrics’ Pure Air Go as
the startof yourelectric journey.It is
designed to be affordable, yet still
offer everything the brandis known
for: solid design, water resistance, local support.
We’re big fans of the original designof the
PureAir Go.It’s utilitarian and industrial,almost
bicycle-like withflowing steel tubes. Whereas
some electric scooters are just clones of the
Xiaomi M365, this is more original.
Being designed and createdby a British brand,
it certainlyfeelslikea sturdy, well-built piece of
kit. It’s constructed to safely carry a large 120kg
maximum load. at’s more than most scooters,
and means it shouldn’t have any troubles
carryingyou, and a heavy bag, aroundtown.
As wepreviously mentioned, it hasan IP65
water resistance rating.is is achieved byfully
sealingthe electronics inside the footplate and
means it canbe ridden in wet weather, which is
essential if you’re using it inthe UK ornorthern
Europe inthe winter.
Of course, this extra engineering involved
with waterproofing does come at a slight
disadvantage,and that’s weight. It weighs 16kg,
which is slightly heavier than many of its rivals,
but slightlyless than the existingPure entry
level model.
e Pure Air Go also features a stem hingethat
locks into place with a U-shaped bracket and
screw-downcap. It’ssimple enough touse,but
not the quickest solution out there. Weprefer the
faster click-lock system of the PureAir Pro.

Air Go

PURE & SIMPLE

WE’RE IMPRESSED Great price;
water-resistant, rugged design;
large maximum load; large wheel
size; easyto maintain.
WE’D IMPROVE Heavier than
rivals; not the slickest folding
mechanism.
THE LAST WORD The Pure Air
Go is ideal: it’s quick enough,
sturdy,and very affordable.
Water resistanceand larger
tyres set it apart, but if youwant
a longer range, look elsewhere.

VERDICT

Air Go at: bit.ly/t3purgo

We found it picks upspeed well, and didn’t
feel breathless when it reached full speed –
which is legallylimited to 15.5mph and feels
plenty fast enough. However, the small 350W
motor canfeel very slightly underpowered
when going up steephills compared to the new
500Wmotor inthe Air Pro.
e Air Go features large 10-inch air-filled
tyres. is is a major advantageoverthe Xiaomi
range, which is fitted with 8.5-inch tyres. We’ve
found the larger tyresprovide a safer, more
comfortable ride;they can handle the larger
bumpson uneven surfaces better.
e main drawback to getting the Air Go
rather than the Air or Air Pro isrange. Itwill
carry you for around 12.4 miles, whereasthe Air
will takeyou 18.6 miles and the Proa whopping
31 miles. But overallwe were impressed with
how the PureAir Goperformed – especially
considering its low price.
Just likethe rest of the Pure Airrange, it has
been designed so it’seasy to maintainat home.
Home mechanics should find the larger tyres are
easier tochange and Pure has made surethe
tyre valveis easilyaccessible, making them
simple to inflate.
e Pure Air Go is certainlyone of the top
electricscooters ifyou’rejust starting out. It’s not
perfect: it’s heavier than its rivals, it’s not the
fastest, and itdoesn’t have the longest range. But
if you’re after an affordable, reliable e-scooter
with decent performanceand great build quality,
then it may well be for you.
