waterproof jacket
This new lightweight waterproof
jacketfrom Merrell is made from a
four-way stretch fabric with a knit
inner for next-to-skin comfort and a
PFC-free DWR. There’s an adjustable
hood with a bonded brim, zipped
hand pockets, a water-resistant
two-way Vislon front zip, and
ergonomically shaped
cuffs. The jacket can be
packed into the left-
hand pocket. The
Whisper comes in
men’sand women’s
sizes and costs £190.

to its unique OutDry range
Columbia has a new addition to its unique OutDry Extreme
range, which has the waterproof membrane on the outside so
there’s no need for a DWR. The NanoLite has an adjustable
hood with bonded brim, two hand pockets, water-resistant PU
Vislon front and hand pocket zips, plus a drawcord-adjustable
hem. It can be packed into a hand pocket. Columbia says the
jacketis “engineered to be extremely lightweight”.The NanoLite
is available in men’s and women’s sizes and costs £250.

days from Hanwag
Hanwag has launched two new shoes for this summer. The
Cliffside GTX (£155) is made from oiled and waxed split leather
and premium Perwanger suede, and have a Gore-Texinner. There
is underfoot cushioning and a sole with hexagonal rubber studs
for good grip. The Arnside (£145), described as a ‘mountain
sneaker’,has a ventilated nubuck leather upper with a mesh lining
for optimum breathability and the same sole as the Cliffside.
Both models can be resoled to extend their lifespan.

The Wailer Jacket is a windproof
smock made from a 100% recycled
ripstop polyester with a Teflon
EcoElite PFC-free DWR treatment
for water repellency. The jacket has
a half-length front zip and a large
zipped front pouch. Both zips are
water-resistant YKK ones. The
hood and cuffs are elasticated,
and the hem has a drawcord.
The jacket packs into the pouch.
It costs £120 and is only
available in men’s sizes.
