Meall nan Eun & SlatBheinn
North-West Highlands SCOTLAND
25 km/ 15. 5 miles/ 10 - 12 hours
Ascent 1280 m/ 4170 ft
THE Knoydarthills of
Meallnan Eunand Slat
Bheinn sit eyeballing each
other across Glen Barrisdale;
but, despite being such
near neighbours, there’sa
mighty drop separating
these two Grahams.
Many choose to climb
them individually, but each
is still a long day. Combining
them means accepting you
are in for some hey ascents.
In bothcases, the wonderful
BarrisdalePath is the main
arteryleading to their heart.
If you tackle SlatBheinn
first, it means a longer
walk in. Meall nan Eun is
a shorter initial ascent, but
you are faced with two big
reascents to get thatsecond
summit and out again.
I decided on a third
a’ Chamuis Bhain then head W
over rockier terrain to East Top
then main summit of Meall nan
Eun at 667m.

to the summit at 700m.

Drop E through slabby
pavements and follow
the Allt Coire Slat Bheinn into
GleannCosaidh,thenpickup
a rough path along the shore of
Loch Cuaich.
