Tan Tan Plage, also known as Al-Ouatia, 28km west of Tan Tan, is a large, windswept
stretch of beach that first attracted a 19th-century Scottish trader, Donald Mackenzie, who built
a trading post here. It’s a derelict place with the feel of a perennially out-of-season seaside
resort, but staying here is preferable to Tan Tan.
