bythecreationofthecrashsensors.AllenBreedinventedaballintubemechanism.Heuseda
sensorwithaballattachedbyamagnetinatube.Hismechanismwasabletoinflateanairbag
injust 30 milliseconds.Insteadofthe conventionalcompressedair,anexplosionofsodium
azide was used to fill the airbag.
Hisideawaswidelyacceptedbyallthecarmanufacturers,andChryslerwasthefirstcarto
installhissystemintheirvehicles. Companiesallovertheworldtookabasicunderstandingof
the crash sensors and launched their modified crash sensors like the "Auto-Ceptor"
crash-restraint that was designed for Ford. Later the GM company’sOldsmobile Tornado
becamethefirstdomesticUSautomobiletohaveanairbagsysteminstalledinit.Thecompany
described its airbag system under the name of “AirCushion Restraint System” or ACRS.

Everymovingobjectinthisworldhassomemomentumassociatedwithit.Inourcase,acar
moveswithvelocityandthushassomemomentum.Thismovingcarwillcontinuetomoveuntil
andunlessanyexternalmediareducesorincreasesitsspeedbecauseofinertia.Thischangeof

passengersofthecarwhenthecaracceleratesorwhenthebrakesareapplied.Thisforceabout

velocity,thetimetakenissignificant;thus,theoverallforceissmall.Butincaseofanaccident,
thecarmovingatvelocityisbroughttoahaltinafractionofseconds,sotheforcegeneratedis
enormous.Acarhasseveralinteriorcomponents,forexample,asteeringwheel.Whenasimple
elementasasteeringwheelcollideswithahumanbodyatsuchhighforce,theresultsarefatal.
