Step-by-step Take automated screenshots in Automator

4

Take a screenshot
In the ‘Take Screenshot’ action, tick
‘Timed’ and set the delay. A screenshot will
be taken in five minutes. Click ‘Save To’ and
select ‘New’ from the menu.

5

Create a folder
A folder andfilename are needed for
screenshots. Use Finder to create a folder
and copy any PNG image to it. Select it in
Automator, where screenshots are saved.

6

Rename the screenshot
Each image is saved in this folder, and
with this name. New shots overwrite old
shots. Avoid this by clicking ‘Add’ in ‘Get
Specified Finder Items’ and select the file.

1

Create an app
Run Automator in the Applications folder
and click ‘New Document’ in the file selector
window that appears. Select ‘Application’ in
the nextwindow,and then click ‘Choose’.

2

Browse the library
Automator enables you to create apps
by selecting and linkingready-made modules
or actions. Select ‘Library’ in the first column
to see actions listed in the second column.

3

Add actions
Find these four actions in thelibrary
and drag them to the right. We have clicked
each ‘>’ to collapse the actions, making them
easier to see. This is the whole app.

7

Rename screenshots
In ‘Rename Finder Items’, we can rename
the screenshot file we just saved, and give it
a new name. Select ‘Add Date or Time’ at the
top and ‘Hour Minute Second’ for ‘Format’.

8

Loop to start
Set the ‘Loop’ action to loop
automatically and stop whenever you want,
like after 300 minutes. It can be manually
stopped if necessary from the menu bar icon.

9

Save the app
Go to the ‘File’ menu and save the app.
Run it, to save screenshots at the intervals set.
Activate Find My, leave it on the screen and
the screenshot app saves location images.
