A quick measure

The Measure app received a lot of attention when it was first announced, but it has garnered a lot less recognition since

then. However, it is incredibly handy for giving you very quick measurements of almost any area, or object, when you

need them, and the end resultsare accurateenough to workwith.

Plan your rooms

Once you have some measurements, it is a good idea to build a basic plan of the rooms you wish to redecorate and improve to

help you evaluate your desired layout and interior design. Our advice is to pay close attention to the furniture so that wholesale

changes will not look too cluttered when you have finished. Creating a basic 2D plan in Draft Paper is an excellent way to start.

Get Draft Paper

Draft Paper is a very simple app that is

designed purely to let you draw simple plans,

which you can use for an overview of all the

rooms you are working in.

Perfect dimensions

The app can use dimensions to let you

draw everything to scale. This will ensure that

you do not make the common mistake of

mismatching crucial areasand measurements.

Build it up

Simple shapes can also be inserted to

represent your furniture. If you take your time,

you can create relatively complex plans of

every single room in your house.

And go again

When you have completed

a measurement, you can

tap ‘Clear’ to start your next

measuring phase. This is also

useful ifyou are not sure about

what has been captured, and

want to double-check the

dimensions of the shot.

Tap and measure

When you are at the right spot, hit the big ‘+’ icon.

Then move your iPhone, and hit the ‘+’ to measure.

Now, hit ‘+’ in the same spot, and move again to

start making squares and other shapes. Repeat

until it’s completed.

Save your work

Tapping this icon will save your

measurements as a screenshot to easily

capture all of your work. You can also

tap on any measurement to copy the

value into other apps. Every possible

use is covered in Measure.

It’s not perfect

Remember that Measure is only useful for certain

measurements, such aswall heights and the general

dimensions of furniture. It is not capable of giving

exact measurements, so stick to rulers if you need to

be extremely meticulouswith your measurement.
