You may be aware of digital picture frames, and they can be a good option to consider, but there is no reason why you cannot use

your iPad for the same task. This is not redecorating as such, but it is a clever and cheap way to make use of your tablet when it is

charging, and to add personality to any room.

An app solution

Download Photo Frame from the App

Store, and give it access to your photo library.

Now, select the photos you want to display,

and tap the red play icon to begin.

Choose your preferences

A new panel will appear which allows

you to tweak the transitions, the speed of

the photo cycle and what extra content is

displayed alongside eachphoto.

The end result

The end result will be a pristine

presentation of your favourite photos, which

includes the current weather conditions and

temperature, the date and the UV Index level.

Use the sample

There is a sample sheet in Numbers called

‘Home Improvement’. Select this, and you will

instantly see how it can be useful for working

out the cost of everything.

Calculate the labour

Tap the ‘Costs’ tab at the top, and check

the labour costs that are included. Take time

to work out what work you can undertake,

and what needsprofessional help.

Squeeze the hours

Add a new tab, and input the professional

hours needed for each area. Now, take as

many hours off, that you can do yourself and

quickly calculate the savings.

Explore further savings

The ‘Products’ tab lets you add items that

you need for your home improvements. You

can remove and add items as needed, and

this approach will really open your eyes.

Your order book

You can add to the Products tab, by

inputting what has been ordered to date. The

ability to select certain items gives you full

control of your costs, at all times.
