Step-by-step Discovering an AirTag
1
Receive an alert
If someone else’s AirTag appears to be
following youaround andthe owner isn’t
nearby, you will get an alert saying: “AirTag
Found Moving With You”. Tap the alert.
2
Check it out
You’ll be informed your current location
is visible to the AirTag’s owner. You’ll also be
told the time the device was first seen with
you. Unexpected? Then tap ‘Continue’.
3
Track your path
A map will show exactly where you have
been with the AirTag – all information the
owner could have seen. You’ll also see your
current location. Time to take some action.
AirTags can be very useful, not just for you,
but for people with nefarious motives too...
What to do if you’re being
tracked by an AirTag
AirTags are brilliant at tracking devices that may become lost or
stolen, but they can unfortunately be used to track people too
A
irTags are hugely useful. We’ve used
them to find lost car keys and wallets,
and they give us peace of mind when
placed within other valuable items ensuring
they’ll be more easily found if they’re stolen. But
there are concerns about their use, such as the
potential for tracking people surreptitiously.
Apple has thought about this. iOS devices
are able to detect AirTags that have become
separated from their owners, letting people know
they’re carrying one that belongs to someone else.
They’re also easily disabled and tapping them
with a NFC-capable device such as an iPhone
will reveal useful details. Here’s how it works.
