iOS called Background SoundsIn May, Apple announced some great new
accessibility features coming to iOS later in the
year (https://apple.co/3wYZLcB), and they
will likely appear in iOS 1 5 in the autumn. One of
these new features isBackground Sounds, and
Apple says that ocean, rain and stream sounds
will play in the background to help you focus, stay
calm or rest. We need a bit of ‘zen’ these days!
This may sound like several dozen apps already
in the iOS App Store, but you can have this iOS
15 feature right now, and out of all the apps, we
like Soothing Sleep Sounds. It’s free, and works
brilliantly. Find it in the App Store on your iPhone,
and you will be calmer after consistent rest.Browse the collections of sounds and mix them

Some people find that rain, wind,
chirping insects and other sounds help them
to fall asleep. Tap ‘Timed Play’ and set a timer
so that the app stops when you are asleep.5Create a mix
Skip back a couple of steps and press
‘Add to Mix’. Although the collection of free
sounds is small, they can be mixed in endless
ways. Start with a sound, then tap ‘+’.6Add more sounds
Browse the categories of sounds,and
select another one to add to the mix. For
example, select one of the sea sounds to add
to the pacific thunderstorm mix here.1
Choose a category
Soothing Sleep Sounds organisesthe
audio into categories like rain, ocean, river
and streams just like Apple, but there are also
crickets, insects and frogs. Press one.2Browse the sounds
Each category contains a small collection
of sounds. In ‘Rain’, for example, there are
five types of rain sounds, like ‘Blizzard’ and
‘Australian Thunderstorm’. Tap one.3Sound options
Tap ‘Play’, and the sound plays until you
stop it. Use it during the day to relax or mask
the sounds around you, like a busy office or
traffic. It works great with AirPods!
