Activate Siri
Press the microphone button on your
Siri Remote – it’s located on both the first and
second-generation devices. You’ll now see
that a keyboard will automatically appear.

Enter your text
Use the touchpad or clickpad ring,
depending on your remote,to highlight each
character, then press to select it. Keep doing
so until you have typed your entire request.

Select numbers
To make use of numbers or special
characters, press the Play button on the
remote. When you’re ready, click ‘Done’ and
the request will be processed.

Type to Siri using your iPhone
As well as using the on-screen keyboard on Apple TV, you can
also type via iOS or iPadOS

See more settings
When you tap the ‘...’ icon
you will also see an option
called ‘Settings’. This lets you
determine how the keyboard
alert appears on your iPhone:
whether it’s onthe Lock
Screen, in the Notification
Centre, as a banner or even
all three.

Can I still dictate to Siri?
Of course. The benefit of enabling Type To Siri is
that you don’t lose the ability to dictate if you would
prefer that method. When the keyboard appears, just
press and hold on the microphone button on your Siri
Remote instead of entering anycharacters and the
digital assistant will function as it always has.

Set up your device
If you’d prefer to use the
Qwerty keyboard layout of
your iPhone or iPad to enter
text on Apple TV, ensure
either device is signed into the
same Apple ID as your Apple
TV. You also need to enable
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Manage your
notifications
Tap these three dots and you
can determine if you want
the keyboard notification to
be delivered quietly to your
iPhone or iPad. You can also
turn it off.

Call upon Siri
With Type To Siri activated
on Apple TV, press the Play
button on your Siri Remote.
Tapthe notification which
appears on your iPhone or
iPad, and anything you type
on these devices will be
processed on Apple TV.
