MainStage
Apple’s ultimate live rig for musicians
JUST IN CASE YOU AREN’T
FAMILIAR WITH APPLE’S
‘OTHER’ MUSIC APP, MainStage
transforms your Mac into a live rig that you
can take on stage with you when you perform
live and enhance your keyboard, guitar or vocal
performance with an enormous collection of
plug-ins and sounds.
Keyboardists, for example, can utilise note-
based remote controls with the Arpeggiator and
trigger complex chords by pressing a single note
with Chord Trigger, as well as dial in retro synth
effects from the golden age of synthesisers
and big hair. For guitarists, you get a varied
assortment of on-demand stomp boxes to
expand your sound, without spending a fortune
on piecing together a physical pedalboard.
MainStage supports just about any external
MIDI device on the planet and the interface is
simple to use. Just assign a physical control to
an onscreen control and it’s connected forever.
Although if your kit does fail just before you
walk out onstage then it’s quick and easy to
swap out – the show must go on after all!
The range of sounds that MainStage presents
is staggering. With over 4 ,300 instrument and
effect patches at your fingertips, more than
1,80 0 sampled instruments and over 10K loops
in the library, you can create a varied audio
tapestry to take to the live stage.
