3 Anatomical Orientation
Base of the 1st metatarsal bone

When palpating along the medial aspect of the midfoot in a proxi-
mal direction, the proximal end (base) of the 1st metatarsal bone
forms the first distinct prominence. SP-4is located distal to this
bony orientation point, at the junction of the shaft and the base.

When palpating along the medial side of the foot, past SP-4
and the base of the 1st metatarsal bone, a further bony structure can
be clearly felt. This is the navicular tuberosity, where KID-2
is located.
