Caledonia High School


reunion is Saturday
Caledonia High School
will welcome back alumni
next Saturday for the school’s
biannual alumni reunion.
The reunion will take place
from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the
cafeteria of the high school,
9050 Kraft Ave., SE. Lunch
will be served at noon. The
cost is $17.50 per person.
Awards and door prizes
will be handed out. Awards
will be presented for the first
to register, oldest student,
youngest student, the person
who traveled the farthest,
traveled the least, and parent
and child and sibling stu-
dents.
Music will be provided by
“Sentimental Journey:
Classic Songs for Classic
People.” One of the group
members is Denny Crum, a
1960 CHS graduate and
member of the Michigan

Country Music Hall of Fame.
Caledonia Community
Schools Superintendent Dr.
Dedrick Martin is expected to
attend the reunion. Also
expected to attend are retired
teachers Kay Newell and
Fran Newby.

Gaines Township hosts National Night Out event


Residents of Gaines
Township and the city of

Kentwood gathered Tuesday
night outside Kentwood

Community Church for the
South Kent observance of
National Night Out, which is
part of an annual communi-
ty-building campaign that
promotes partnerships

between residents and law
enforcement in an effort to
create safer neighborhoods.
Representatives from the
Kent County Sheriff’s
Department, local fire

departments, AeroMed, Kent
County Road Commission
and Michigan State Police
were on hand for the obser-
