✓ Avoid echoing. Over enthusiasm may make you repeat everything the
student says as though you’re egging them on, but this is unproductive
and increases TTT.
✓ Ask open questions. Open questions start with words like ‘why’ and
‘how’ so the student can’t just say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ in response.
✓ Monitor quietly. Once you get the students working in pairs and groups,
try not to butt in. Just listen and make notes.
