They were seated in the only police station of
Bistenburg, a low-civilized town in Equador.
Bistenburg, with about sixty thousand
inhabitants, lacked behind its neighboring
towns and had an archaic telegraph, postal and
communication System. The population
comprised of mainly – goldsmiths, small
merchants, shopkeepers, artisans and scholars.
The area was governed by a mayor, who barely
perceived the miss happenings of the town.
The lady sub-Inspector, Kate Hills was a young,
agile and a dedicated police officer. She was the
only female officer in the department, yet
always ready for any task. Owing to a recent
divorce, she developed a suspecting mindset.
She was an old native of Bistenburg, whose
forefathers have also served in police.
