in a number of countries. For example, our research, based on

studies carried out by various academics, shows that Mexico's

external debt at the end of 1995 was actually SI64.6 billion. If you

include the government internal debt paper held by non-residents,

worth S11.6 billion dollars, you arrive at a total of S176.2 billion
